The District Translation office routinely receives requests from schools for oral interpretation at IEP meetings. Sometimes the District office is not able to fill a request for Spanish oral interpretation due to an overwhelming number of requests for the same day.

In accordance with REF-1596.2, Oral Interpretation at an Individualized Education Program Meeting, site administrators are responsible for utilizing eligible bilingual site staff to provide oral interpretation at IEP team meetings. School-site administrators are to send eligible bilingual site staff to the District IEP oral interpretation training, maintain a list of District trained oral interpreters and certificated staff otherwise eligible to interpret at IEP meetings at the school site, and annually submit the School Roster of Eligible to Interpret at IEP Team Meetings form to the Division of Special Education no later than November 1st of each school year.
